A wisely implemented digital photogrammetry technique and applied with computer vision methods results in an intelligent automated processing system that, on the one hand, can be managed by a newcomer to the field of photogrammetry, but, on the other hand, has much to offer a specialist who can adjust the workflow to numerous specific tasks and different types of data. Throughout several case studies, Metashape proves to produce accurate and quality results.
Features:
Photogrammetric triangulation
Processing of various types of images: aerial (nadir, oblique) and short-range.
Automatic calibration: frame cameras (including fisheye), spherical and cylindrical.
Support for multi-camera projects.
Dense point cloud: editing and classification
Elaborate model editing for accurate results.
Point classification to customize geometry reconstruction.
.LAS export to benefit from classic point data processing workflow.
Digital elevation model: DSM/DTM export
Digital surface model and/or digital terrain model, depending on the project.
EXIF/flight log metadata-based georeferencing: GPS/GCP data.
EPSG log coordinate system support: WGS84, UTM, etc.
Georeferenced orthomosaic export
Georeferenced orthomosaics: more GIS-friendly GeoTIFF format; .KML file to be placed in Google Earth.
Export in blocks for large projects.
Color correction for homogeneous texture.
Measurements: distances, areas, volumes
Built-in tools to measure distances, areas, and volumes.
For more sophisticated metric analysis, Metashape products can be seamlessly transferred to external tools thanks to a variety of export formats.
System Requirements
RAM
In most cases, the maximum project size that can be processed on a machine is limited by the amount of RAM available. Therefore, it is important to select a platform that allows installing the amount of RAM required for the projects to be processed. Please refer to the Memory Requirements article for information on typical RAM consumption in common processing steps.
CPU
The complex geometry reconstruction algorithms of photogrammetric software require a significant amount of computational resources for optimal data processing. Therefore, a high-speed multi-core CPU (6+ cores, 3 GHz+) is recommended.
GPU
Agisoft Metashape supports GPU acceleration for most resource-intensive rendering steps, making it possible to accelerate rendering using high-end OpenCL or CUDA-compatible graphics cards with a large number of unified shaders (CUDA cores or shader processor units).
Base Configuration
up to 32GB RAM (laptop or desktop)
CPU: 4-12 core Intel, AMD, or Apple M1/M2 processor, 2.0+ GHz
RAM: 16 - 32GB
GPU: NVIDIA or AMD GPU with 1024+ unified shaders
(For example: GeForce RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 5600M)
Advanced Configuration
up to 128GB RAM (desktop or workstation)
CPU: 6-32 core Intel or AMD processor, 3.0+ GHz
(For example: Intel i7/i9 or AMD Ryzen 7/Ryzen 9/Threadripper)
RAM: 32 - 128GB
GPU: 1 - 2 NVIDIA or AMD GPUs with 1920+ unified shaders
(For example: GeForce RTX 3080 or Radeon RX 6800 XT)
Extreme Configuration
128+ GB RAM (Server)
For processing extremely large data sets, dual-socket Intel Xeon or AMD EPYC-based servers (3.0+ GHz) with Quadro, Tesla, Radeon Pro, or Instinct GPUs can be used.
