Airbus has announced that the Spanish government has entered into an agreement with Germany and the NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency (NETMA) for the procurement of 25 Eurofighter aircraft. This acquisition received approval from Spain's Council of Ministers in September 2023 and encompasses the aircraft, engines, and necessary support services. This new contract builds upon a previous agreement made in 2022 for 20 fighter jets, effectively expanding the Spanish Eurofighter fleet to a total of 115 aircraft. All of Spain's Eurofighters are manufactured, tested, and delivered at Airbus's facility in Getafe.
"We extend our gratitude to the Spanish government for their confidence in the Eurofighter and Airbus Defence and Space. This order not only represents a significant demand and defense commitment but also ensures the stability of the supply chain both in Spain and throughout Europe," stated Mike Schoellhorn, CEO of Airbus Defence and Space.
