French stocks are showing signs of weakness this Friday morning, with notable declines in the luxury and automobile sectors. Investor sentiment appears to be dampened by apprehensions surrounding political instability in France and potential tariff impositions by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.

Earlier today, the CAC 40 index fell to 7,393.76 but has since risen by 48.67 points, marking a 0.66% increase to currently stand at 7,345.0.

On Thursday, French equities lagged behind their European counterparts, which managed to achieve substantial gains despite initial market challenges. The CAC 40 concluded Thursday with a modest increase of 0.18%.

Shares of ArcelorMittal have declined by 3.4%, while Kering and Stellantis have each dropped by nearly 3% from the previous day's closing figures. Dassault Systèmes is down approximately 1.8%, and stocks such as LVMH, STMicroelectronics, Essilor, Hermès International, Safran, and Accor have seen decreases ranging from 1% to 1.5%.

Conversely, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, TotalEnergies, and Eurofins Scientific have posted moderate gains. Additionally, Vivendi, Engie, and Bouygues are experiencing slight increases.
