French stocks are experiencing a steady rise on Tuesday morning, building on gains from the previous session. Investors are currently analyzing the latest consumer price inflation data for France while anticipating the release of similar data for the eurozone.
The CAC 40, France's main stock market index, has increased by 22.33 points, marking a 0.3% rise to stand at 7,468.02.
Unibail Rodamco is leading the advance with a 2.3% surge, closely followed by Vivendi, which has gained approximately 2.2%. Pernod Ricard is also performing well with a nearly 2% increase. Other significant performers include Vinci, Thales, Kering, Hermes International, LVMH, and Dassault Systèmes, each showing increases between 1% and 1.5%.
Eurofins Scientific, Legrand, Stellantis, L'Oreal, Safran, and Schneider Electric have posted modest gains.
Conversely, Societe Generale, Edenred, Teleperformance, Credit Agricole, and Saint-Gobain have experienced declines ranging from 0.3% to 0.7%.
As reported by INSEE, the French statistical office, the nation’s consumer price inflation remained stable at the end of the year, with a provisional estimate showing a rate of 1.3% in December—unchanged from November's figures. This was below the expected climb to 1.5%.
Harmonized inflation showed a slight increase to 1.8% in December, up from 1.7% in the previous month, but it still falls short of the European Central Bank's target rate of 2%.
Economists predict that inflation within the eurozone will have risen to 2.4% in December from the 2.2% recorded in November. Additionally, the unemployment rate is anticipated to remain steady at 6.3% in November.
