When one of America's top rock bands reached out, Catherine Marks found herself in the U.S. working on her biggest project yet. The Grammy-winning producer discusses the recording of Manchester Orchestra’s hit single, ‘The Gold’, and how she redefined the band's sound with effects pedals, room mics, and acoustic guitars.

Recorded in a converted church in North Carolina, Marks explains how the studio's acoustics shaped the album's sound. She details her experimental approach to mic placement and signal processing, blending worn guitar pedals with high-end analog gear to achieve unique tones.
