Check Point Software Technologies Ltd (CHKP) announced on Monday the appointment of Nadav Zafrir as its new Chief Executive Officer. Zafrir steps into the role previously held by founder Gil Shwed, who has transitioned to serve as the Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors.
This leadership change was initially revealed by the cybersecurity solutions provider in late July, when they disclosed that Zafrir, a seasoned expert in cybersecurity, would be succeeding Shwed.
Before joining Check Point, Zafrir co-founded and was a managing partner at Team8, a prominent company-building venture specializing in cybersecurity, data and artificial intelligence, fintech, and digital health. His prior roles include establishing the Israeli Defense Forces' Cyber Command and serving as the Commander of the elite Unit 8200, rising to the rank of Brigadier General upon his retirement.
Zafrir has an impressive track record of board involvement, currently serving as a board member of SolarEdge Technologies after holding the chairman position for five years. Moreover, he has been a board member for 14 private cybersecurity firms.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Zafrir stated, "Leading an iconic cybersecurity company during such a crucial period for our industry is both an honor and a significant responsibility. In today's world, trust is paramount, and Check Point's mission to build and safeguard that trust is of utmost importance. We are uniquely positioned to fulfill this mission and influence the future trajectory of the cybersecurity sector."
