Denmark's consumer confidence showed a slight improvement in January, according to data released by Statistics Denmark. The consumer confidence index increased to -11.7, up from December's -13.1. This modest uptick is largely attributed to consumers' improved assessments of their current family financial situations.
There was also a slight improvement in consumers' expectations for their personal financial conditions over the next year, with the index moving from -1.2 in November to -1.0. Correspondingly, the index reflecting past financial circumstances improved, advancing from -11.2 to -5.3.
Conversely, sentiments regarding the country's overall economic outlook for the upcoming year took a downturn, as indicated by a drop in the index to -18.6 in January, compared to -18.0 the previous month.
The survey also highlighted households' expectations that price increases will decelerate slightly over the next year, while they foresee an upward trend in unemployment.
