Introducing our first drum kit for Kontakt: LDW 1973. This vintage Ludwig kit is paired with Zildjian cymbals.

The kit was recorded using four microphones with the renowned Glyn Johns technique. Each element of the kit features a blend of all four mics, exported as a single sample for optimal sound quality.

While you can't control each mic individually, this method ensures a swift workflow, providing a mixer with a fader for each element. This approach is designed for efficiency and quick results.

Each element is sampled with 7 round robins, and dynamic layers vary by element. The snare has 7 dynamic layers, the kick has 6, and the toms have 5. We aimed to balance instrument size, natural sound, and effective workflow.

Kit Elements:
  • Kick
  • Snare
  • Tom 1
  • Tom 2
  • Floor Tom
  • Hi-hat
  • Crash
  • Splash
  • Ride
  • Cowbell
In addition to the blended mic samples, each sample is sent to an external hardware reverb unit (Bricasti M7). You can add this "ROOM" layer via a dedicated control knob in our interface. The room sound can be blended with the original signal for each element or globally for the entire kit, adding a realistic dimension to the drum sound.
