Delta Air Lines (DAL) has released its guidance for 2025, projecting earnings to exceed $7.35 per share. This represents more than a 10% year-over-year increase, compared to a normalized 2024 earnings per share baseline, excluding the 45-cent impact caused by the CrowdStrike outage in the September quarter. On a non-GAAP basis, the 2025 earnings per share guidance suggests an impressive growth of over 19% year-over-year.

Ed Bastian, Delta's CEO, commented: "Our unique strategy and superior operations, coupled with robust demand and a progressively positive industry environment, enable us to achieve unprecedented financial success in Delta's 100-year history. We anticipate pre-tax income north of $6 billion, earnings per share exceeding $7.35, and free cash flow surpassing $4 billion."

For the first quarter, Delta forecasts revenue growth between 7% and 9%, with earnings ranging from $0.70 to $1.00 per share.

Dan Janki, CFO, mentioned: "As we continue to make efficiency gains, we anticipate non-fuel unit cost growth to remain in low single digits for the entirety of 2025. This is due to efficiencies counterbalancing the slower capacity growth and ongoing investments in our workforce and customer experience."

In the fourth quarter, Delta's net income reached $843 million or $1.29 per share, compared to $2.04 billion or $3.16 per share in the same period last year. Excluding certain items, Delta reported adjusted earnings of $1.20 billion or $1.85 per share for the quarter. Analysts, on average, expected the company to earn $1.74 per share, according to data from Thomson Reuters, with estimates typically excluding special items.

Revenue for the fourth quarter increased by 9.4% to $15.56 billion from $14.22 billion the previous year. The adjusted operating revenue was $14.44 billion compared to $13.66 billion.

As of Friday pre-market, Delta Air Lines shares have risen by 4%.
