RSS European Economic News Preview: UK Retail Sales Data Due

The UK retail sales figures and final inflation data from the euro area are headline economic reports to be released on Friday.

At 2:00 AM ET, the UK Office for National Statistics will publish its retail sales statistics for December. Analysts anticipate a 0.4% increase in sales following a 0.2% rise in November.

At 4:00 AM ET, the European Central Bank will release current account data for the euro area pertaining to November. The current account surplus is projected to rise to EUR 28.0 billion, up from EUR 25.8 billion in October.

At 5:00 AM ET, Eurostat will unveil the final inflation figures for the euro area for December. Preliminary estimates indicated that inflation had climbed to a five-month peak of 2.4%, up from 2.2% in November.
