The unemployment rate in Hong Kong remained unchanged during the October to December timeframe, according to labor statistics released by the Census and Statistics Department on Monday. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was at 3.1% for this period, consistent with the rate from September to November.
Additionally, the underemployment rate held firm at 1.1%. When not seasonally adjusted, the unemployment rate experienced a slight decrease to 3.0% from 3.1%, with the number of unemployed individuals reducing to 113,600 from 119,700 observed in the previous three months.
"The labor market is expected to stay relatively stable in the near future," remarked Chris Sun, the Secretary for Labor and Welfare. "However, employment in certain sectors could face challenges due to rising uncertainties in the global environment."
