Method 1. Use Inspect Element
You can use the Chrome browser's Inspect Dev Tools to grab a view-only Google Drive video file and download it directly if permissions are restricted. Below are the steps you need to take.

1. Open Chrome browser
2. Paste the Google Drive share URL and load the page.
3. Now open the Inspect Element Window (Developer Console) by pressing Ctrl + Shift + C for Windows or Cmd + Shift + C for Mac.

4. Once Dev Tools is open, click on the video file to play it.
5. Now click on the Networks tab in Dev Tools.
6. Here, in the filter search box, type “videoplayback“.
7. This will filter the video URL.
8. Double-click the URL displayed under the name section.

9. A new Chrome tab will open with the file's video player.
10. Click on the three vertical dots menu option.

11. Now press the Download button to save the file.

Method 2. Use Browser Extensions
You can use Browser Extensions to directly download restricted Google Drive videos. Get an Extension like Video Downloader and add it to your Chrome Browser. Now when you open a Google Drive URL and tap on a video to play, you will see a download button in Extensions.

1. Add Chrome Extension to Browser.

2. Open the video URL preview on Google Drive.
3. Play the video and immediately the Extension will display a number indicating the video file detected.
4. Click Extensions and load the video file.

Method 3. Use Video Downloader for Android phones
You can also download Google Drive videos to watch only on Android mobile phones. CongVietBlog tested a number of video downloading applications and found that the 1DM video downloading application can do this job.

1. Download the 1DM app on your Android device.
2. Grant permission to the app and tap the Browser icon at the top.

3. Paste the shared URL and press Enter.

4. The Google Drive preview page will open.
5. Click the video play button, and you will see the download indicator at the top.

6. Tap that button, and it will show the file has been detected, tap on it.
