Internet Download Manager has a multilingual interface, extensive configuration options, mask downloading, supports proxy servers, FTP, HTTP and HTTPS protocols, works behind a firewall, file redirection, works with cookies, download with authorization, preview of ZIP archive content, categories, processes MP3 audio and MPEG video content and supports a large number of server platforms. IDM integrates seamlessly into browsers such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape, AOL, MSN Explorer, Opera and Mozilla for automatic link processing. You can also drag and drop files or start Internet Download Manager from the command line. Internet Download Manager can connect your modem to the network at a given time, download the files you specify, then disconnect the connection and even shut down your computer.
Unlike other download accelerators and managers where files are segmented before the download begins, Internet Download Manager segments downloaded files dynamically during the download process. In addition, Internet Download Manager reuses existing connections, avoiding additional connection and authorization stages to achieve better speed characteristics.
When IDM is running, it displays its pyramid icon on the taskbar. The IDM menu can be accessed by right-clicking the icon. You can close IDM by selecting Exit from this menu.
IDM Features:
- Dynamic file segmentation, using the split-into-two-parts rule
- Reuse connections that have finished downloading their parts of the file without additional login steps
