What happens when you put a breakbeat producer and a skilled live drummer in a room full of vintage gear? YFBOB-Your Friend Brennan (YFB) and Outback (OB)-spent a week recording their DEATHBYSHEEP debut tape, 'Display Case.' Brennan laid down high-tempo breaks while Outback manipulated hardware FX in real-time. The duo, originally from Victoria, BC, met years ago playing in a backing band while pursuing solo projects-Outback DJing jungle and hardcore with 909 Worldwide, and YFB exploring ambient and post-punk. 'Drum Skit,' created with the same experimental approach, features live studio drums, synth textures from the Prophet 600 and Korg MS-20, and effects from an Eventide H3000 and a modified Neve console. It's a playful exploration of junglist traditions and boundary-pushing sound. When asked about the process, they simply said, "these drums aren't gonna play themselves."
