"FM Drums Reloaded" combines classic and newly crafted FM drum sounds. Originating in the 80s, FM synthesis experienced a resurgence in the 2000s, and in recent years, various synth manufacturers have revived its popularity. FM drums have been favored by producers across genres from 80s pop to 2000s dub, downtempo, and minimal techno for their clean, sharp, yet thick and distinctive sound that always stands out in the mix.

The FM synthesis technique, pioneered by John Chowning in the 1960s to create sounds distinct from analog synthesis, was commercialized by Yamaha with the release of the first FM digital synthesizer in 1980. We've used the renowned DX-7 to recreate some of these legendary FM drum sounds, processing them through outboard compressors and EQs, and recording them via a high-quality preamp to deliver top-notch, usable sounds.
