Northern Trust (NTRS) has announced a strategic three-year Memorandum of Understanding with the National University of Singapore (NUS) to foster innovation in green finance and encourage the use of green finance frameworks and blockchain technology.
This collaboration sets out to advance state-of-the-art research and formulate practical solutions to address the challenges faced in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) finance. A central focus is the tokenization initiative, leveraging Northern Trust's Matrix Zenith platform to convert the green attributes of bonds into digital form. This will improve transparency and facilitate easier regulatory reporting for investors, ensuring alignment with global sustainability standards.
Additionally, the partnership will strengthen academic collaboration through Northern Trust's involvement with the Singapore Blockchain Innovation Programme (SBIP) at the NUS School of Computing (SoC). Here, research fellows and PhD candidates will engage in brainstorming, designing, and developing solutions, thus nurturing talent in the field of blockchain technology.
