NXP Semiconductors N.V. (NXPI), a leader in automotive processing and networking solutions, announced on Tuesday its agreement to acquire Aviva Links, a company specializing in in-vehicle connectivity solutions compliant with the Automotive SerDes Alliance (ASA) standards. This transaction, valued at $242.5 million in cash, is anticipated to finalize during the first half of 2025.
The ASA, established in 2019 with NXP as one of its founding members, supports automakers in transitioning to open-source, interoperable networking solutions that align with the evolving demands of software-centric vehicles.
This alliance promotes an open standard featuring scalable data rates ranging from 2 Gbps to 16 Gbps, while also incorporating link-layer security. The standard not only facilitates SerDes point-to-point communication but also enables a seamless shift to efficient Ethernet-based sensor connectivity.
Based on market data from NXP, the potential market for ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and IVI (In-Vehicle Infotainment) symmetrical links is projected to expand from $1 billion in 2024 to $2 billion by 2034.
