(QCOM) has announced that Dr. Baaziz Achour will assume the position of Chief Technology Officer at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., effective February 3, 2025, coinciding with the retirement of Dr. James Thompson. Dr. Achour, who has been serving as Deputy Chief Technology Officer since 2023, joined Qualcomm as a Systems Engineer in 1993. Throughout his notable career with the company, he has thrived in numerous leadership roles within the engineering department and has been instrumental in the advancement of nearly every iteration of wireless technology. Notably, Dr. Achour played a pivotal role in the swift deployment of 5G and will spearhead the transition to 6G.
