RAM Connection 2024 (24.00.02.41) - Release Date: September 2024
Resolved Issues:
(1527271) AISC Anchor Shear Breakout Groups: For parallel shear in AISC 318-11 and ACI 318-19, there was a glitch in the calculation for Case 3 configuration. This issue has been resolved, and now the shear breakout groups for both parallel and perpendicular shear are correctly calculated.
(1524937) AISC Truss Gusset Effective Length Factor: Previously, the effective length factor for the bottom gusset was incorrectly considered as 1.0 for all cases. This has been fixed, and the factor is now correctly set to 1.2 for chevron configurations.
(1500713) AISC Anchor Design: The tensile breakout calculations did not account for anchor spacing in custom configurations. This has been corrected, and spacing is now properly considered across all anchor setups.
(1501456) Incorrect Bolt Row Warnings: Several single-plate connections across different codes displayed an incorrect limit for the minimum number of bolt rows in error messages. While the warnings were triggered correctly, the displayed limit was inaccurate. This has been fixed. (1487274) AISC Bolt Groups Tool: The number of shear planes was not being calculated correctly. This has been addressed, and the number of shear planes now accurately reflects the selected plates.
(1503355) AISC Moment End Plate Knee Connection: The fillet weld length for transverse stiffeners in full-length stiffeners with horizontal alignment was not calculated properly. This issue has been fixed to ensure the correct weld length is considered.
(1524023) AISC Flange Plate (Beam to Column Web Joint): Weld strength at the column web was not accurately accounted for in the design. The weld size for the column web is now properly included in the capacity calculations.
(1519307) DXF for Cleat Angles: When the beam side was unbolted, the DXF file displayed a misleading dimension. This has been removed, and the DXF output is now consistent with similar connections.
(1524206) Bolt Diameters Check for Seismic Provisions: Bolt diameter seismic provisions were not included in the seismic design for flange plates. This has been fixed and the check included.
(1510046) CSA Base Plate Anchors: A warning was incorrectly triggered for anchors with shear lugs, even when no lug was present. This issue has been fixed, and the warning now behaves as expected.

RAM Connectionis the ideal solution when structural engineers or designers need to check a specific connection, design a single connection for multiple joints, or optimize each connection in a structure. Analyze, design, and verify structural steel connections, all with comprehensive calculations, including seismic compliance. RAM Connection can check or design connections in seconds. Whether you design connections or need to check connections designed by the shop, RAM Connection is the software for you. In just one low-cost package, you get for steel frame connections the AISC ASD and LRFD, AS 4100-1998, BS5950-1, CSA S16-14, EN1993-EC3, GB50017 and IS800 connection design and optimization for shear and moment connections, braced frame connections, splices, and horizontal bracing connections. For truss connections you get the tubular connections design according to the AISC and the HSS Connection Design Manual. Through its seamless integration with the RAM Structural System, RAM Elements, and STAAD.Pro, RAM Connection raises the bar to a new level of productivity. All data regarding member sizes, joint geometry, and forces are transferred directly from either the RAM Structural System, RAM Elements, or STAAD.Pro to RAM Connection.
Designing Through Plate (TP) Connections in RAM Connection
In this video, you will learn how to design through plate shear connections for beam-column joints.
