Rare Vintage Synthesizers
A pioneer and founding member of The Human League and Heaven 17 presents an exclusive collection of classic analogue synth and drum sounds from his rare electronic instruments.
Overview
With over 270 presets, some featuring up to 5 distinct mixable signal paths, this library offers a broad selection of synth and drum sounds that trace the roots of UK electronica and synthesizer pop. These sounds influenced the "electro" subset of the NY hip hop scene, led by artists like Afrika Bambaataa in the late seventies and early eighties. The collection includes pads, leads, pops, drums, FX, tempo-locked sequences, and curios, all designed by Martyn Ware himself, alongside warped versions by top composers and producers. Presented in "super mono," these sounds are processed through vintage class-A analogue outboard gear.
Background
Martyn Ware, an essential contributor to electro-pop since the late 1970s, co-founded The Human League, Heaven 17, and British Electric Foundation. He has worked with Tina Turner, Chaka Khan, Erasure, Marc Almond, Mavis Staples, and Terence Trent D’Arby, featuring on recordings totaling over 50 million sales worldwide. In 2001, he co-founded Illustrious Company with Vince Clarke, blending unique 3D sound technology with various artists and corporate clients. A proud Sheffield native, Ware is now based in London, where he also serves as a Visiting Professor at Queen Mary College, University of London.
Synths and Sequences
The Roland System 100, with its exceptional pair of oscillators, is a highlight of this collection. Hand-made and rare, this unit was gifted to Martyn Ware by Vince Clarke. It showcases Ware's programming skills, revisiting iconic sounds from The Human League and Heaven 17. The collection also includes synths, leads, pops, basses, and sequences.
