Introducing Steel Drums, performed by acclaimed percussionist Frank Ricotti, renowned for his session work. Elevate your film, TV, and game scores with these meticulously crafted instruments. Explore a range of presets tailored for contemporary R&B, pop, and electronic music, all within our user-friendly eDNA engine. Recorded at the prestigious AIR Studios, these steel drums offer a seamless integration with our orchestral libraries.

Christian Henson, Spitfire's founder, has long been captivated by the emotional depth of steel drums. Teaming up once again with Frank Ricotti, whose percussion expertise graces projects like the iconic Hans Zimmer Percussion, we ventured back to AIR Studios to expand our percussion collection. Our goal: capture the versatility of steel drums, from soft layers to vibrant tones, suitable for various musical genres.

Presented in two interfaces, our standard multi-mic setup allows for intuitive articulation control, while our eDNA engine offers instant access to expertly crafted presets. Every nuance was meticulously recorded by AIR Studios' engineer Jake Jackson, using top-notch equipment, ensuring pristine sound quality.

Originally rooted in Trinidadian tradition, steel drums evolved from hitting kitchenware to a vital component of Caribbean carnival music. In the realm of film scoring, they've graced notable works by Jaco Pastorius, Cliff Martinez, and Hans Zimmer, and are a staple in global dance and R&B tracks. Frank Ricotti, a percussionist of legendary status, has lent his talent to blockbuster film scores like Inception and Interstellar, solidifying his reputation as one of the industry's finest.
