Bright and sleek, 'groovy soca' emerged in the 1990s with Robin Imamshah's composition "Frenchman," introducing a slower tempo to the soca genre. Popular in Trinidad and Tobago since the early 1970s, soca only gained commercial success two decades later. The term 'groovy soca' was coined in early 2005 by the ISM organizers (International Soca Monarch) as part of a rebranding effort.
This Splice Sessions sample pack, recorded at Anguilla Music Academy with top regional musicians, focuses on the downtempo, R&B-influenced style of soca. It offers a variety of one-shots and loops perfect for pop, dance, R&B, or electronic tracks.
