The latest survey results from the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) reveal a significant improvement in Swiss consumer confidence as of December compared to the previous year. The consumer sentiment index rose to -30.3 in December, a marked increase from -44.4 last year.
A detailed analysis shows that all four components of the index saw improvements over the past year. The economic outlook indicator saw a moderate rise, reaching -23.2 compared to -28.5 a year earlier.
Furthermore, there was a notable recovery in the sub-index assessing the past financial situation, which surged to -44.9 from -63.5 in December. Similarly, the financial outlook index improved to -25.1, up from -45.7 the previous year.
Additionally, the measure of the time deemed favorable for making major purchases climbed to -28.1, improving from -39.8 in the preceding year.
