Nvidia Corp. (NVDA), a prominent player in AI chip manufacturing, has announced key collaborations with Toyota Motor Corp. (TYT.L, TM), along with Aurora and Continental, to enhance their consumer and commercial vehicle fleets using NVIDIA's advanced computing and AI capabilities.

Toyota, a leading Japanese automobile manufacturer, plans to utilize the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin platform integrated with the safety-certified NVIDIA DriveOS operating system to develop its next-generation vehicles. These vehicles aim to provide robust, functionally safe advanced driving assistance features.

Furthermore, Nvidia has revealed a long-term strategic alliance with Aurora and Continental, targeting the large-scale deployment of driverless trucks powered by NVIDIA DRIVE technology. This collaboration will see the integration of NVIDIA’s accelerated compute capabilities functioning on DriveOS into the Aurora Driver, an SAE level 4 autonomous driving system. Continental has slated the mass production of these systems for 2027.

Nvidia points out that a significant number of auto manufacturers, including truck makers, robotaxi services, autonomous delivery vehicle enterprises, tier-one suppliers, and mobility startups, are already building on the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX platform and its associated technologies.

Prominent names like BYD, Mercedes-Benz, Rivian, and Volvo Cars are in the process of adopting the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX platform to advance their development of next-gen driver-assistance systems and autonomous vehicle strategies.

Nvidia’s automotive sector, which encompasses innovative platforms spanning from cloud-based training to simulation and in-car computing, is poised for substantial growth, with projections indicating that it could expand to approximately $5 billion in revenue by the fiscal year 2026.
