Wizz Air Holdings Plc has finalized a commercial support agreement with Pratt & Whitney concerning the ongoing grounding of aircraft resulting from issues with the powder metal in the PW1100G-JM geared turbofan engines. According to Wizz Air's projections, approximately 40 Airbus A320NEO family aircraft will remain grounded through Fiscal Year 2026 due to mandatory inspections of its GTF fleet. The agreement with Pratt & Whitney, extending until the close of 2026, provides both operational assistance and a compensation package. This package is designed to cover Wizz Air's direct costs related to the aircraft currently grounded and those anticipated to be grounded. Wizz Air has stated that it is actively taking measures to lessen the financial and operational consequences of the grounded aircraft.
