Description
My motto:  When the going gets tough, ToughAgers workout!Let’s look at some statistics on older adults. In the United States, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, over 63 million people ages 50-64 and more than 55 million people ages 65+ in 2021 were counted. In 2018, the National Center for Health Statistics surveyed Americans to find out who met the federal physical activity guidelines for aerobic and muscle-strengthening. They found just over 24% of 25–64-year-olds, 16% of 65-74-year-olds, and 10% of those 75 years and older met the guidelines. Considering we are trying to serve so many older adults with a vast array of physical abilities and levels of activity, it is important for the fitness industry to offer class options and training sessions for this growing population.Exercise is for everyone and seniors are no exception. The body will do what it is trained to do so let's train active older adults so their bodies will function optimally.  How to lead a safe, fun, and effective group exercise class for active older adults was a challenge I faced years ago. Learn from my journey as I applied my education, experience, and the feedback I received from older adults to develop an easy-to-follow format certified group fitness instructors could use.  The ToughAgers format follows current guidelines and research for older adult fitness training.  Learn about neuromotor training and how incorporating neuromotor exercises can benefit older adults. Through detailed narrated videos, this course teaches you how to apply this information to private, small group, and large group training. With over 170 detailed exercise examples, you will be guided through the following:IntroductionCardiorespiratory TrainingBalance TrainingResistance TrainingSpecial Populations including:  Osteopenia, Osteoporosis, and Knee OsteoarthritisCore TrainingFlexibility TrainingHelp older adults continue to enjoy an active lifestyle as long as possible by learning the ToughAgers active older adult fitness training format.
