Hey all! This thread will aim to answer questions some of the newer members have & members who haven't made their first buck online yet!
I'm going to share smaller, known methods while pointing you in the right direction to make money as a beginner.
First, we're going to talk about a few things/resources that you'll need to get started.
Things you'll need to get started:
- A website/landing page or somewhere to send traffic that you want to convert. (here is an AMA with @Festinger in regards to Wordpress)(to convert means that the visitor either buys what you're selling, enters their email for your offer, clicks your affiliate link, etc).
- Hosting, I'll list some cheap hosting providers below.
- CPA/AM/Publishers account, I'll list those as well.
- A traffic source. (social media, Google (see my beginner's guide on SEO here), paid ads, etc.).
- A payment processor to be paid with. (I'll list a few, but sometimes you can also be mailed a check, but it takes longer).
Buying a domain
I'm gonna start by telling you to attempt to avoid using Godaddy if you can. So lets list some alternatives to get you a domain name:
Bluehost -

Bluehost is essentially a one-stop shop for domain, hosting, SSL certificate, and domain privacy. You don't need anything but domain & hosting, but the SSL makes your site more trusted & the privacy is for convenience.

Downsides of free hosting:
- Ads on your site that aren't yours.
- Downtime, free hosting companies are notorious for inconsistent uptime.
- Limited amount of available bandwidth.
- If you have an issue, customer support is also limited.
If you're looking to sell accounts or anything that may breach a hosting's TOS, or anything of that nature, bulletproof hosting is what you're looking for.
Bullet proof hosting is a form of hosting that ignores DMCA & takedown requests. Although, it is normally not cheap. So if you're looking for cheap hosting, it's probably not bulletproof.
I'll list a few bulletproof hosting providers. Some of these aren't 100% bulletproof currently, but they ignore some things. These were bulletproof hosting at one time, so use at your own risk:

CPA & Affiliate Marketing
CPA (Cost Per Action) is a form of marketing that has advertisers giving access to their products/offers via publishers' (you) marketing tactics.
There are plenty of CPA networks around & they assign you an account manager once you've submitted the application for approval.
CPA Networks that are worth using in 2022:
MaxBounty - An older network that has been in the game for awhile. Has a lot of offers, is worth using when you're just starting out. Disable your adblocker for their website.
OGAds - Mostly for content locking, decent network.
LosPollos - A good network overall. They've been having some issues recently, but that doesn't mean they always will be. Definitely worth a try.
CrakRevenue - Decent network. Has adult offers as well as smart link options.
Clickbank - has went downhill over the last 5-10 years but is still viable for selling affiliate products.
Smart links are links that determine where traffic is coming from and route the traffic to the best performing offer based on several factors.

CPA Approval
This isn't going to be some long section. It's fairly straight forward. Some networks offer instant approval. However for the networks that don't, I'm just gonna tell you what I've done in the past.
You'll need:
- a blog/website of some kind.
- multiple articles/content posted.
- I'd cross post all of my articles to social media just to be 'safe'.
When I spoke to the account manager on the phone or via skype, I told them:
- My traffic comes from paid ads & paid traffic sources.
- An alternate source of my traffic is targeted social media campaigns & Google Search, but "Google is a pain in the ass sometimes" so my traffic "fluctuates".
I was approved nearly every time just on the phone and once or twice wasn't even asked by the AM for the link. But 90% of the time they asked to see my blog/website. So, make sure yours is online & somewhat active.
Also, asking about how to get uncapped offers, higher payouts, etc never hurts. Uncapped offers are offers that have no limit on the amount of leads that can be generated per day/week/month.
Note: I am in no way saying this will get you approved. I'm just telling you what I've done and what happened to work for me.

Unattached affiliate marketing
This is the least targeted form of affiliate marketing in which the marketer (you) has the least amount of connection to the product they're marketing to the end user (visitor, traffic, etc).
This is also when you're promoting offers outside of your niche and you have no social following/reputation in regards to the niche of the product/link/offer.
Related affiliate marketing
This is somewhat targeted affiliate marketing in which you have some presence online (rankings/social media, etc) in the niche of the offer/product that you're promoting but haven't necessarily used the products that you're promoting.
Involved affiliate marketing
This is when you actually use the product that you're advertising to an/your audience but still receive a commission for promoting the product. Such as a streamer that is using the pair of headphones they're advertising while getting a commission for the sales.
Ad Programs/Networks
Adsense
The most popular ad network available. Essentially, the concept of Adsense is that you:
- Build a website & make 20-30 blog posts.
- Submit to approval with Adsense.
- Watch a video on good ad placement. Something like this:
- Send visitors towards your site/articles in hopes they'll click your ads/give you impressions.
- To be eligible for payment, you need to meet a $100 threshold for earnings.
- You get paid on a NET30 timescale. So if you generate potential leads/clicks for all of the month of January, you'll see that money around February 21-26 providing that your clicks/leads are legitimate.
Approval
I recently was approved on Adsense for a new site, even though I don't necessarily plan on using them. What this site has currently:
- Privacy page. This is needed and you can have one generated with any of these sites:

- Contact us page. I used contact form 7, you're free to use whichever plugin you want.
- 32 articles. That's what my website has with roughly 35k words total over the entire website. You shouldn't even apply until you have 15-20 articles minimum, but you're allowed to do whatever you please.
- Proper internal link structure.
- 2-3 unique images per article. These are images that were either edited in Photoshop or taken directly from websites like:

Burst by Shopify
- Fully created social media profiles with links to them on the homepage of the website.
- Author pages filled out entirely with AI generated images, if you don't have any images to put in. This discord server has an AI generator that allows you to create 25 free images: https://discord.gg/midjourney
- "Accept our cookies" display box.
- Related posts on the bottom of each article. Can be done with the related posts WP plugin.
- Fully filled out About Us page with a fake backstory about the authors. This probably isn't necessary but it's on my site so I'm mentioning it.
Note: I am in no way saying this will get you approved. I'm just telling you what I've done and what happened to work for me and that it MAY work for you. There are no guarantees in internet marketing.
Ezoic
I believe Ezoic to have passed Adsense with how much money you can make from their ad program in comparison to Adsense. Though, if you apply to Ezoic & have a Google ads account, that account needs to bein good standing.
Ezoic RPM has always been higher for me than Adsense has. Especially lately. A deeper explanation on that by @blackbeans
RPM is Revenue Per 1000 iMpressions. Generally, you should have the same website items listed above for Adsense on the website you're applying to Ezoic with.
Approval
At one point, Ezoic had a 10k pageviews per month traffic requirement. They have recently removed this requirement and sites with less than 10k pageviews per month can apply to their AccessNow program.

Mediavine
Mediavine is an ad network that is for already established websites and if you're reading this far in, that may not be you. Their requirements are steep for newer applicants as you need to have 50k user sessions in the last 30 days.
Their done-for-you advertising kit is well worth it though and in my experience your earnings can/will be slightly better with them over Adsense.
Adthrive
Generally, Adthrive likes the traffic on your website to be from specific places. They choose who they want to work with & when you apply you may be denied. They typically only approve websites with 60-100k monthly pageviews & in a popular niche.
If you are denied, you can take a screenshot of your Google Analytics/Google Search Console, and message their support for more information on why. However, their requirements are quite steep. Your earnings will still be better than what you'd get with Adsense.

Payment processors
Cryptocurrency:
Accepting payments in cryptocurrency & converting the incoming payments to your desired currency is the most viable practice currently. It can keep things relatively anonymous, if need be.
Usually, that's something like converting your incoming payments to ETH (Ethereum), USDT (Tether), LTC (LiteCoin), or BTC (BitCoin).
You can accept crypto with various processors such as:

- Binance
- CoinPayments
- Coinbase Commerce
- Coingate
- uTrust

Autoblogging
One of my personal favorites to generate some income with little work involved. A few things you'll need:
- Domain name & hosting.
- Wordpress installed, with theme activated.
- Automation plugin/software such as WpRobot or WP Automatic. The second option there is perceivably the best option.
- A way to monetize your autoblog such as one of the CPA networks listed above or some affiliate product from Clickbank.
- Patience.

Reddit
Reddit has a large amount of possibilities from creating your own subreddit & marketing that, buying/selling/creating accounts, and using various subreddits for traffic/conversions.
If you don't know what Reddit is, I suggest you watch this video. It explains the hierarchy & such fairly well.
Ensure that you read the rules of the different subreddits you're trying to market with because marketing on reddit is generally frowned upon, so you've gotta be clever.

Youtube
The common problem with marketers who want to make money from Youtube is that they want to do it without showing their face. To be successful on Youtube you need a few things:
- A niche. You need an audience that's already dedicated to a topic that your videos will address.
- Video editing software without watermarks. Here & here are options to buy Adobe products for much cheaper on the BHW marketplace. Outside of Adobe products, here are a few free options:
- Blender
- Shotcut
- KdenLive
- VSDC
- Openshot
- LightWorks, free to start with.
- Davinci Resolve, free version.
- Avidemux, basic editor, only listing for reference. Still works.
- Clipify
One thing you'll need to understand is that if you can satisfy Youtube's algorithm, your video/channel will start getting recommended to people. You can do that by getting traffic to your videos from multiple sources. It also has to do with your CTR being around a certain percentage.
There is a member here who figured out some of how the method works with this thread.
Be sure to read everything including all pages of the thread for updates. Things change & to keep your earnings, you'll want to be accustomed to those changes.
In the above linked thread, the OP mentions that his CTR is sitting at around 19%. In another thread linked here, this member mentions his CTR is around 14% for viral videos on his channel.
So, that should give you an idea of where you want your CTR to be for the algorithm to push your channel.

Facebook/Twitter/Pinterest
It's no secret that these few social media networks are easily marketed on and one of the best ways to get some quick traffic usually for free.
Now with Facebook & Twitter, there are multiple roads you can take to earn. Such as:
- Creating accounts, farming the friends list via pages, groups, & hash tag marketing and selling them.
- Creating & selling Facebook pages & groups. Here is a guide on how to grow your Facebook group.
- Running paid ad campaigns on both Facebook & Twitter. Facebook's can be very profitable.
You'll need a few things to do some of the methods above, such as:
- Folders of profile pictures/images of people to use.
- Proxies.
- Facebook/Twitter ad account(s).
- Multiple browsers open at once, see multilogin subscription.
- A little finesse.
Twitter isn't as much of a stickler about accounts & being banned as Facebook is. Also, I believe Twitter's algorithm for detection to be different than Facebook's is as well.
You can farm Twitter communities to grow accounts the same way you would farm Instagram community hashtags. Something like:
- Posting to the most popular hash tags frequently. Here is a list of the most popular Twitter communities: https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/twitter-communities-for-geeks/
There's also: MMA Twitter, Crypto Twitter, Anime Twitter, etc. All have big enough communities to grow accounts from.
- Commenting on each piece of news related to the hash tag topic live or within the week.
- Unless you're trolling the community, aim to look like a real person so that the account seemingly has natural growth.
Pinterest isn't what it was in the first 5 years after its launch, but it's still a very viable tool for marketing. I'm going to list a bunch of Pinterest money backing threads so that you can understand:

- What makes Pinterest so viable for marketing/CPA.
In terms of users, Pinterest apparently has more active users than Twitter, but not anywhere close to what Facebook has.
Pinterest has 40M+ more active users than the highest reported users for Twitter. However, I'm seeing conflicting results for the actual Twitter numbers.
Regardless, Pinterest is still competing. What does that mean for us?

Final thoughts
Mostly, I just wanted to point some people/beginners in the right direction while they're looking to get into IM. I probably didn't explain everything the best way and didn't even touch every topic I wanted to cover.
However, I feel like this will help a few people and that's the overall goal.
I will leave you with one small bit of advice. Every single one of us that are successful online were failures at some point with some method/strategy. Don't let those failures deter you or define you.

I'm going to share smaller, known methods while pointing you in the right direction to make money as a beginner.
First, we're going to talk about a few things/resources that you'll need to get started.
Things you'll need to get started:
- A website/landing page or somewhere to send traffic that you want to convert. (here is an AMA with @Festinger in regards to Wordpress)(to convert means that the visitor either buys what you're selling, enters their email for your offer, clicks your affiliate link, etc).
- Hosting, I'll list some cheap hosting providers below.
- CPA/AM/Publishers account, I'll list those as well.
- A traffic source. (social media, Google (see my beginner's guide on SEO here), paid ads, etc.).
- A payment processor to be paid with. (I'll list a few, but sometimes you can also be mailed a check, but it takes longer).

- Downtime, free hosting companies are notorious for inconsistent uptime.

If you're looking to sell accounts or anything that may breach a hosting's TOS, or anything of that nature, bulletproof hosting is what you're looking for.

CPA (Cost Per Action) is a form of marketing that has advertisers giving access to their products/offers via publishers' (you) marketing tactics.
There are plenty of CPA networks around & they assign you an account manager once you've submitted the application for approval.
CPA Networks that are worth using in 2022:
MaxBounty - An older network that has been in the game for awhile. Has a lot of offers, is worth using when you're just starting out. Disable your adblocker for their website.
OGAds - Mostly for content locking, decent network.
LosPollos - A good network overall. They've been having some issues recently, but that doesn't mean they always will be. Definitely worth a try.
CrakRevenue - Decent network. Has adult offers as well as smart link options.
Clickbank - has went downhill over the last 5-10 years but is still viable for selling affiliate products.
Smart links are links that determine where traffic is coming from and route the traffic to the best performing offer based on several factors.

CPA Approval
This isn't going to be some long section. It's fairly straight forward. Some networks offer instant approval. However for the networks that don't, I'm just gonna tell you what I've done in the past.
You'll need:
- a blog/website of some kind.
- multiple articles/content posted.
- I'd cross post all of my articles to social media just to be 'safe'.
When I spoke to the account manager on the phone or via skype, I told them:
- My traffic comes from paid ads & paid traffic sources.
- An alternate source of my traffic is targeted social media campaigns & Google Search, but "Google is a pain in the ass sometimes" so my traffic "fluctuates".
I was approved nearly every time just on the phone and once or twice wasn't even asked by the AM for the link. But 90% of the time they asked to see my blog/website. So, make sure yours is online & somewhat active.
Also, asking about how to get uncapped offers, higher payouts, etc never hurts. Uncapped offers are offers that have no limit on the amount of leads that can be generated per day/week/month.
Note: I am in no way saying this will get you approved. I'm just telling you what I've done and what happened to work for me.

Unattached affiliate marketing
This is the least targeted form of affiliate marketing in which the marketer (you) has the least amount of connection to the product they're marketing to the end user (visitor, traffic, etc).
This is also when you're promoting offers outside of your niche and you have no social following/reputation in regards to the niche of the product/link/offer.
Related affiliate marketing
This is somewhat targeted affiliate marketing in which you have some presence online (rankings/social media, etc) in the niche of the offer/product that you're promoting but haven't necessarily used the products that you're promoting.
Involved affiliate marketing
This is when you actually use the product that you're advertising to an/your audience but still receive a commission for promoting the product. Such as a streamer that is using the pair of headphones they're advertising while getting a commission for the sales.
Ad Programs/Networks
Adsense
The most popular ad network available. Essentially, the concept of Adsense is that you:
- Build a website & make 20-30 blog posts.
- Submit to approval with Adsense.
- Watch a video on good ad placement. Something like this:
- Send visitors towards your site/articles in hopes they'll click your ads/give you impressions.
- To be eligible for payment, you need to meet a $100 threshold for earnings.
- You get paid on a NET30 timescale. So if you generate potential leads/clicks for all of the month of January, you'll see that money around February 21-26 providing that your clicks/leads are legitimate.
Approval
I recently was approved on Adsense for a new site, even though I don't necessarily plan on using them. What this site has currently:
- Privacy page. This is needed and you can have one generated with any of these sites:

- Contact us page. I used contact form 7, you're free to use whichever plugin you want.
- 32 articles. That's what my website has with roughly 35k words total over the entire website. You shouldn't even apply until you have 15-20 articles minimum, but you're allowed to do whatever you please.
- Proper internal link structure.
- 2-3 unique images per article. These are images that were either edited in Photoshop or taken directly from websites like:

- Fully created social media profiles with links to them on the homepage of the website.

- Related posts on the bottom of each article. Can be done with the related posts WP plugin.
- Fully filled out About Us page with a fake backstory about the authors. This probably isn't necessary but it's on my site so I'm mentioning it.
Note: I am in no way saying this will get you approved. I'm just telling you what I've done and what happened to work for me and that it MAY work for you. There are no guarantees in internet marketing.
Ezoic
I believe Ezoic to have passed Adsense with how much money you can make from their ad program in comparison to Adsense. Though, if you apply to Ezoic & have a Google ads account, that account needs to bein good standing.
Ezoic RPM has always been higher for me than Adsense has. Especially lately. A deeper explanation on that by @blackbeans
RPM is Revenue Per 1000 iMpressions. Generally, you should have the same website items listed above for Adsense on the website you're applying to Ezoic with.
Approval
At one point, Ezoic had a 10k pageviews per month traffic requirement. They have recently removed this requirement and sites with less than 10k pageviews per month can apply to their AccessNow program.

Mediavine
Mediavine is an ad network that is for already established websites and if you're reading this far in, that may not be you. Their requirements are steep for newer applicants as you need to have 50k user sessions in the last 30 days.
Their done-for-you advertising kit is well worth it though and in my experience your earnings can/will be slightly better with them over Adsense.
Adthrive
Generally, Adthrive likes the traffic on your website to be from specific places. They choose who they want to work with & when you apply you may be denied. They typically only approve websites with 60-100k monthly pageviews & in a popular niche.
If you are denied, you can take a screenshot of your Google Analytics/Google Search Console, and message their support for more information on why. However, their requirements are quite steep. Your earnings will still be better than what you'd get with Adsense.

Payment processors
Cryptocurrency:
Accepting payments in cryptocurrency & converting the incoming payments to your desired currency is the most viable practice currently. It can keep things relatively anonymous, if need be.
Usually, that's something like converting your incoming payments to ETH (Ethereum), USDT (Tether), LTC (LiteCoin), or BTC (BitCoin).

One of my personal favorites to generate some income with little work involved. A few things you'll need:

Reddit has a large amount of possibilities from creating your own subreddit & marketing that, buying/selling/creating accounts, and using various subreddits for traffic/conversions.
If you don't know what Reddit is, I suggest you watch this video. It explains the hierarchy & such fairly well.
Ensure that you read the rules of the different subreddits you're trying to market with because marketing on reddit is generally frowned upon, so you've gotta be clever.

Youtube
The common problem with marketers who want to make money from Youtube is that they want to do it without showing their face. To be successful on Youtube you need a few things:
- A niche. You need an audience that's already dedicated to a topic that your videos will address.
- Video editing software without watermarks. Here & here are options to buy Adobe products for much cheaper on the BHW marketplace. Outside of Adobe products, here are a few free options:
- Blender
- Shotcut
- KdenLive
- VSDC
- Openshot
- LightWorks, free to start with.
- Davinci Resolve, free version.
- Avidemux, basic editor, only listing for reference. Still works.
- Clipify
One thing you'll need to understand is that if you can satisfy Youtube's algorithm, your video/channel will start getting recommended to people. You can do that by getting traffic to your videos from multiple sources. It also has to do with your CTR being around a certain percentage.
There is a member here who figured out some of how the method works with this thread.
Be sure to read everything including all pages of the thread for updates. Things change & to keep your earnings, you'll want to be accustomed to those changes.
In the above linked thread, the OP mentions that his CTR is sitting at around 19%. In another thread linked here, this member mentions his CTR is around 14% for viral videos on his channel.
So, that should give you an idea of where you want your CTR to be for the algorithm to push your channel.

Facebook/Twitter/Pinterest
It's no secret that these few social media networks are easily marketed on and one of the best ways to get some quick traffic usually for free.
Now with Facebook & Twitter, there are multiple roads you can take to earn. Such as:
- Creating accounts, farming the friends list via pages, groups, & hash tag marketing and selling them.
- Creating & selling Facebook pages & groups. Here is a guide on how to grow your Facebook group.
- Running paid ad campaigns on both Facebook & Twitter. Facebook's can be very profitable.
You'll need a few things to do some of the methods above, such as:
- Folders of profile pictures/images of people to use.
- Proxies.
- Facebook/Twitter ad account(s).
- Multiple browsers open at once, see multilogin subscription.
- A little finesse.
Twitter isn't as much of a stickler about accounts & being banned as Facebook is. Also, I believe Twitter's algorithm for detection to be different than Facebook's is as well.
You can farm Twitter communities to grow accounts the same way you would farm Instagram community hashtags. Something like:
- Posting to the most popular hash tags frequently. Here is a list of the most popular Twitter communities: https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/twitter-communities-for-geeks/
There's also: MMA Twitter, Crypto Twitter, Anime Twitter, etc. All have big enough communities to grow accounts from.
- Commenting on each piece of news related to the hash tag topic live or within the week.
- Unless you're trolling the community, aim to look like a real person so that the account seemingly has natural growth.
Pinterest isn't what it was in the first 5 years after its launch, but it's still a very viable tool for marketing. I'm going to list a bunch of Pinterest money backing threads so that you can understand:

In terms of users, Pinterest apparently has more active users than Twitter, but not anywhere close to what Facebook has.
Pinterest has 40M+ more active users than the highest reported users for Twitter. However, I'm seeing conflicting results for the actual Twitter numbers.
Regardless, Pinterest is still competing. What does that mean for us?

Final thoughts
Mostly, I just wanted to point some people/beginners in the right direction while they're looking to get into IM. I probably didn't explain everything the best way and didn't even touch every topic I wanted to cover.
